SEMM is a private Foundation for higher education in biomedicine established in 2001, which aims to promote training and research within emerging sectors of biomedicine.
SEMM educational programs provide PhD students with the skills they will need to face the emerging challenges in the biomedical field.
In the multi and interdisciplinary scientific environment of the European School of Molecular Medicine (SEMM) network, that includes 8 Italian Research Centers and 7 Italian Universities, we offer an innovative PhD program in Systems Medicine. The PhD Program aims to train young and motivated researchers in the wide field of modern Biomedicine. The general idea is that complex systems, such as diseases and their pathogenesis, cannot be understood taking into account a single point of view. The expertise of different scientists, biologists, medical doctors, computer scientists, physicists and mathematicians must give their contribution to provide new insights. Due to its peculiarity, the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) recognised the PhD program in System Medicine as a PhD program of National Interest.
Moreover SEMM also organises international events for the promotion of research and dissemination of results in relatively broad scientific areas such as Molecular Oncology, Molecular Medicine, Epigenomics, and Biomedical Humanities.
The SEMM considers the organisation of such events a valuable instrument to:
-publicise the latest updates on research
-support the establishment of a network of high calibre researchers in different fields
-foster the acquisition and distribution of a new scientific culture
-encourage the creation in Europe of a critical mass of talents and knowledge for the advancement of Molecular Medicine
-provide a meeting place where all the participants, PhD students, basic and clinical researchers or clinicians, can mix, exchange ideas and interact
