EuroClio - European Association of History Educators is an umbrella association of more than 70 history, heritage, and citizenship educators' associations and other organizations active in the field. We were established in 1992 at the request of the Council of Europe. Since then, EuroClio has worked in many European countries and beyond on a large variety of issues related to the learning and teaching of history. We are a thriving and engaged democratic community of history education professionals with considerable geographical reach and presence.
EuroClio supports the development of responsible and innovative history, citizenship and heritage education by promoting critical thinking, multiperspectivity, mutual respect, and the inclusion of controversial issues. EuroClio - European Association of History Educators is a democratic association governed by an elected Board.
Our Mission and Vision was recently revised and updated after the membership consultations in 2016 and 2017. The mission of EUROCLIO is to inspire and empower educators to engage learners in innovative and responsible history and citizenship education. The vision of EuroClio is to all learners become more responsible and contributing citizens and peoples through engaging in history and citizenship education for mutual understanding and peace.
