Ethiopiaid is an international charity that aims to create lasting and positive change in Ethiopia by making sure every person has access to quality education, healthcare and a life of dignity. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty by empowering local communities so they can realise their potential.
Ethiopiaid was founded in 1989 by Sir Alec Reed, CBE (Chairman of the Reed Recruitment Family of Companies), who visited Ethiopia in the late 1980's and was incredibly moved by the suffering he saw there. Under the patronage of Reed Executive, Ethiopiaid was established to give everyone the opportunity to make a difference.
We focus on the needs of vulnerable Ethiopians at grass roots level. This hinges on sustained relationships with trusted Ethiopian partners. Our partners know the context and solutions; we listen and provide appropriate support. Growth and development are tracked in local communities using robust monitoring and evaluation. Partnerships continue as long as there’s a clear need and opportunities to make a lasting impact.
To date, Ethiopiaid has donated over £30 million to partner projects in Ethiopia. Currently we are working with 12 dedicated partners and we aim to donate approximately £2 million to these deserving causes each year.
With your support, we can continue transforming lives in Ethiopia.
