Expert Business Professionals for Experienced Lawyers
Practicing law has been exclusive to licensed lawyers and their legal professionals as standard rules barred non-lawyer professionals, such as business, data, and software professionals, from having an economic interest. However, in 2012 reform happened with the Legal Services Act that permitted lawyers to partner with other professionals in order to innovate, provide better services, and improve access.
Led by Utah and Arizona, the abolition of Ethical Rule 5.4 improved access to legal services for ordinary people and other businesses. The Arizona Supreme Court announced that the potential innovation that is created by these changes is intended to improve justice and provide access to legal documents and legal representation more accessible to the public.
