The passion for motorsport is what moves the students in the search for the development of off-road prototypes for competitions in various types of terrain. Currently, the team is made up of 20 members, all of whom carry out voluntary activities aimed at the success of the project. Students are challenged to design, manufacture and pilot the vehicle.
The UFSC team participates in national and international competitions, organized by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). At the national level, there are more than 70 teams competing to secure a place on the world stage in Mid-West in the United States. Only the top three qualifiers in the national stage qualify for the competition in the highest category of the sport, in which more than 120 teams from different countries compete.
Baja SAE Brasil receives great attention by the media. Broadcasters such as Globo, SBT, ESPN Brasil, SPORTV, Cultura and Bandeirantes, as well as newspapers, magazines and electronic portals, covered the national stage in São José dos Campos in March this year.
The Baja Team UFSC counts on the support, either financial or for the supply of materials, of companies such as LORD, TekBond, Ciser, LabMat and Benzor, among others, that are fundamental for the realization of the projects.
