Encinitas 101 MainStreet was originally formed in 1982 as the Downtown Encinitas Merchants’ Association. In 1988 it became a Main Street Program and began developing the leadership and support needed to care for and manage the downtown area, following the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Revitalization Program. Used in over 1,200 cities and 40 states, the program encourages imaginative use of business and government resources to support local downtown and neighborhood commercial district revitalization efforts.
Over time, an active and vital “downtown” has been revealed, attracting more and more investment into the area. In 2004, Encinitas 101’s success was recognized by the national organization with its highest honor, The Great American Main Street Award.
We welcome business owners and residents to join our organization, volunteer at our community-focused events or just enjoy everything that is one of the last old-style California beach towns.
