Empower Energy Africa

Empower Energy was founded to provide access to dependable and affordable electricity by developing and constructing commercially viable renewable energy projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. Empower Energy employs the independent power producer (IPP) business model to develop its renewable power projects. We identify project sites, secure permits, execute power purchase agreements, structure funding for construction, engage experienced EPC contractors to construct projects, and use the revenue from electricity sales to repay debt and pay dividends to equity investors. Our initial focus has been run-of-river hydro projects in Tanzania with the intention of developing and financing projects as a portfolio; to lower costs and create assets that will attract investment into Africa's renewable power sector.
