SMU Computing & Information Systems Society, affectionately known as Ellipsis, is the student representative body of the School of Computing & Information Systems (SCIS). We are founded in 2003, known by the acronym of SCISS and has recently adopted the affectionate name of Ellipsis in 2017.
Our goal is to build a familial bond between all students to motivate and inspire them to have a fulfilling student life, while providing opportunities for holistic growth. We will continually engage the past, current and future students with our welfare drives and events, and provide opportunities for growth through academic and professional development initiatives. Together, let us build a closely knitted community that can adapt to the rapidly changing economy and technologies, and turn them into our opportunities by changing the way we live, learn, play and work.
Vision
A united SCIS community with a fulfilling student life and opportunities for holistic growth.
Mission
To serve and care for our community with initiatives that focus on engagement, holistic development and fostering a shared sense of identity.
Our Events:
Networking Sessions
All students of the School of Computing & Information System are given the opportunity to meet companies from varying industries during these networking sessions. This event also provides them an opportunity to enquire about securing a full-time job or internship with the desired companies. At the same time students are able to have a personal chat with the company representatives to gain more in-depth knowledge about the various industries.
SCIS Day
The annual SCIS day is a day for all SCIS students to take a break from the busy semester and enjoy the games, performances and food. Working together with our sponsors, we also give away complementary gifts, exposing SCIS students to the various companies who sponsored us.
