Elements srl is an innovative italian start-up established in December 2013 that produces scientific measurement instrumentation for nanosensors analysis, especially electrophysiology.
Elements technology is based on the microelectronic design of custom microchips (ASICs) using standard and low-cost CMOS process. Microchips are specifically designed by Elements microelectronics engineers team. The developed technology allows the company to produce miniaturized devices, portable and easy-to-use, that enable nanotechnologies to be employed in new applications and, possibly, in daily life.
Thanks to the deep knowledge reached by Elements in single- and multi-channel signal acquisition of very low amplitude signals, low power management techniques, analog-to-digital conversion and digital signal elaboration, Elements microchips can measure currents in the picoAmpere (10-12) range with bandwidth up to hundreds of kHz.
Elements miniaturized amplifier can acquire and analyze very low ion currents and can be applied in the electrophysiology field. Ion currents are electric signals flowing through ion channels (nanometric-sized pore-forming proteins on cells membrane). Ion channels are involved in many life processes of cells and are crucial in order to analyze drugs impact on human cells.
In two years of activities Elements products have been distributed at a global level in countries such as USA, China and most of the European countries. Moreover, Elements collaborates with European leading companies in the electrophysiology field, contributing to the innovation of the measurement systems available in the market.
