Electric Company Theatre’s mission is to create and produce ambitious and exceptional theatre in Vancouver, tour beyond our city, foster diverse voices and leadership in our midst, provide a vehicle for artists, audiences and ideas to intersect, and follow the artistic impulses of our Core Artists and collaborators.
We strive for authenticity in our work, seeking to inspire audiences with a renewed sense of possibility, defying and expanding the definition of what live theatre can be. We value equitable, highly collaborative environments for artists, difference, experimentation, risk, and the pursuit of excellence. We traverse artistic disciplines, challenge theatrical conventions and explore universal themes and new ideas relevant to our artists, community and larger society. In our programming we endeavour to support new and emerging artists through collaboration, employment, mentorship and partnership, and provide educational opportunities for artists and the public related to our artistic work. We appreciate the value of reflecting our community in multi-dimensional ways, and the impact that can have on the relevancy of our work.
Electric Company Theatre is a co-founder and resident company of Progress Lab 1422, a creation studio in East Vancouver.
