As EfstonScience, we were science and technology specialists. As eSolar, we put that knowledge into practice. eSolar took decades of solar technology experience and expertise, and toped it up with innovative system design, installation, and project management experience. EfstonScience was always GREEN – ever since it was founded in 1970. Designed and built by The Efston's in 1981, the Science & Astronomy SuperStore on Toronto (on Dufferin Street across from the Yorkdale Mall) functioned as a passive solar heating building – way ahead of its time! The Renewable Energy team expended their expertise from traditional solar PV systems, to include hybrids of thermal and small wind turbines to provide total off-grid solutions. The first innovation that was designed and manufactured by eSolar was the Enlighten Hybrid Wind & Solar Off-Grid LED Street lights. To take advantage of the Ontario Government and OPA incentives, we have a developed a step-by-step process that simplified the FIT and MicroFIT application process. We custom designed hundreds of grid-tied systems. We actively project managed all aspects of each system, from design to installation including building permits, contracts and licences. eSolar solutions combined turnkey integration and state-of-the-art technology with 40 years of EfstonScience knowledge and customer service. In 2013, Irene and Nick Efston, siblings and partners, using the all the experience and knowledge gleaned from EfstonScience and eSolar made the bold move to design, development and build a Mobile Off-Grid Solar Generator and called it the MOBISUN. They established a new company called "MOBISMART Mobile Off-Grid Power & Storage Inc." and in 2015 partnered with Innovative Trailer Design to build the next generation of purpose built solar generators as well as the MOBIWIND vertical axis wind turbine.
