Opened in 2012, Educare DC provides high quality early childhood education to more than 375 children and their families, from pre-natal through pre-k, across 2 Educare DC centers and 4 partner sites in Wards 7 and 8. Educare DC aims to eliminate the opportunity gap for young children experiencing poverty and is part of a 25-school national network that advocates to make early childhood education more accessible and equitable. Educare DC is a Head Start program, combining federal funding, local pre-k and childcare subsidy funds, and private philanthropic dollars to provide full-day, full-year comprehensive education, health, mental health, nutrition, and family engagement services.
