Early Dawn Microfinance Company Ltd. (DAWN) was founded in 2002 as a program under Save the Children International. In 2015, it became an independent company and has rapidly grown into one of Myanmar’s largest and leading microfinance institutions, supporting micro and small business owners. It now serves more than 200,000 clients across the country and manages an active loan portfolio of over US$33 million. DAWN is registered with the Ministry of Planning and Finance and operates with a deposit-taking license granted by the Financial Regulatory Department.
DAWN expands the availability of high-quality, affordable and appropriate services for Myanmar’s financially excluded and underserved. DAWN provides:
• Group-guaranteed loans and comprehensive financial literacy training to low-income women who own and operate their own micro businesses.
• Larger loans to individual small business owners who are mainly in the trading, service and small production sectors.
• Interest-bearing compulsory and voluntary savings to current clients.
DAWN remains a high-growth company with plans to expand to new regions and serve additional client segments, with new and better products and services, including new innovations based on technology. DAWN has grown to nearly 800 employees to support this growth and continues to actively seek new talent.
