Etaf European Tax Adviser Federation

The European Tax Adviser Federation – ETAF is a European umbrella organisation for 215,000 tax professionals from France, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Hungary, Austria and Croatia. ETAF was launched in December 2015 as an international non-profit organisation (AISBL), governed by Belgian law and located in Brussels. The founding members of ETAF are the Bundessteuerberaterkammer (BStBK, Germany), the Deutscher Steuerberaterverband (DStV, Germany), the Conseil Supérieur de l’Ordre des Experts-Comptables (CSOEC, France) and the Consiglio Nazionale dei dottori Commercialisti e Degli Esperti Contabili (CNDCEC,Italy). On 1 July 2018, three organisations joined ETAF as full members: the Institute for Tax Advisors and Accountants (ITAA, Belgium), the Corpul Experților Contabili și Contabililor Autorizați din România (CECCAR, Romania) and the Magyar Okleveles Adószakértők Egyesülete (MOKLASZ, Hungary). The Kammer der Steuerberater und Wirtschaftsprüfer (KSW, Austria) joined ETAF as a full member on 1 January 2022. The Hrvatska komora poreznih savjetnika (HKPS, Croatia) is an observer member since 1 July 2023. The main role and mission of ETAF is to represent the tax profession at European level in liaising closely with European policy makers in order to promote good legislation in tax and professional matters, contribute to fight abuse and illegal acts and enhance certainty and transparency. By defending independence and confidentiality for tax practitioners and pursuing sustainable professional regulations, ETAF shall ensure the basic freedom for the profession to exercise its activities in the internal market and to contribute thus to the safety and benefit of consumers in Europe. As a valid interlocutor on taxation and professional issues, ETAF will contribute proactively to the solution-finding for major topics at EU level.
