Dublin Youth Theatre provides for the social, personal and artistic development of young people aged 14-22 from all across Dublin City and County.
Dublin Youth Theatre has built a reputation since 1977 for producing high-quality, exciting, challenging theatre.
The annual programme includes the production of between 6 to 12 plays. These are a combination of high profile shows in recognised professional venues and low-key productions which allow new members with little or no experience an opportunity to perform in a 'safe' environment.
In addition, members are encouraged to avail of the DYT space for any projects which they wish to work on. Each year the Members’ One Act Festival provides members with the opportunity to write, direct, design & act in their own shows. In 2008 and 2012 Dublin Youth Theatre was programmed as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival and in 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2019 was programmed as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival playing to packed houses and critical acclaim. Although our audiences are made up of largely young people, DYT produces work that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and we are constantly working on ways of reaching out to new audiences.
DYT is supported by grants from An Comahirle Ealíon/The Arts Council, Dublin City Council and CDYSB
