Dogwood Classical Academy

We are a non-profit, tuition-free, public Charter School providing an American Classical Education with an emphasis on civic virtue. Our only affiliation is with the Hillsdale College, Barney Charter School Initiative from which we receive guidance, training, and curriculum without payment or compensation. We follow the Classical Education structure and a curriculum in Western Civilization taught in small classes by specially selected and trained teachers. Our students absorb moral virtues of good and evil through stories of heroes and villains that have passed down through our cultural heritage. They learn to appreciate America’s founding principles with the gifts and responsibilities that those principles bring to our lives as future citizens. In all things, our goal is instilling the love of beauty, the necessity of virtue, and the reward of wisdom that enables our students to live productive and prosperous lives in service to their communities and nation. With a strong Dogwood Classical Academy foundation, our students are ready with the facts, skills, and moral values to succeed in their later education. The new school will be in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to open for the 2024/25 school year offering grades K-6. As our students progress, we intend to grow with them, eventually offering grades K-12. All of our teachers are carefully selected and will receive additional instruction in Classical Education methods from Hillsdale College.
