Documented, founded in 2018, is a local immigrant-focused, community-powered newsroom that meets our readers where they are through multilingual reporting online and through technologies communities use, like WhatsApp. Our award-winning reporting has increased public understanding of the multitude of issues immigrants face, amplified the diverse voices and unique perspectives of the underrepresented and marginalized, and has had a widespread impact on local immigration policy. We publish our reporting through our website, newsletter, and Documented Semanal, our Spanish-language WhatsApp channel of 4,000+ New Yorkers, most of who are undocumented immigrants.
