In November 2011, a group of documentary directors got together and spontaneously decided to make a film about the Occupy camp in their city, Amsterdam. They called themselves Docmakers. Driven by engagement with the world, they collectively created the documentary Don’t Shoot The Messenger. Humour, flexibility and common sense are the magic ingredients of the Docmakers’ collaboration. Future Docmakers projects could work in a number of different ways: individual direction or partnerships, in which the other Docmakers are involved in the background as editors and advisers.
