The German Surf Federation (Deutscher Wellenreitverband) is run by a group of surf-enthusiastic volunteers working between waves. Promoting the sport of surfing with its lifestyle to a primarily land-locked audience is one of their main interests. Another central point of focus is the organisation of events such as the German Surf Championships and the Sylt Open.
In the wake of the 2020 Olympia decision and the admission to the NOC (DOSB) in 2017, the German Surf Federation is managing a team of high-performance surfers and aiming to compete in the Olympics.
