From Blog to Design Services
Destination Eichler started as a design blog for homeowners Karen Nepacena and John Shum to chronicle their journey renovating a mid-century modern Eichler home in Northern California. Their home renovation projects and blog chronicles gained attention and soon the couple began taken on clients who were attracted to their modern design aesthetic and focus on mid-century modern architecture. Fast-forward three years, Destination Eichler transitioned from an online blog into a full service interior design firm helping homeowners visualize and transform their homes.
Design Philosophy
Destination Eichler, LLC now offers interior design services, from furniture and accessory selection and color consultation, to design concept creation (2D/3D renderings) and full home renovation/restoration consultation.
As Principal Designer, Karen applies her Interior Design studies from Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy into her daily design process. With each client, she translates their needs into a clear transformation plan. Her design philosophy centers around creating a functional, pleasing space, that reflects each client’s individualism. John and Karen have completed extensive renovation work on multiple homes and this experience allows them to help clients navigate the complex process of home renovation. Karen’s time living abroad also greatly influences her work and aesthetic, whether designing for mid-century modern homes or Spanish style bungalows.
