Design for America (DFA) is a national network of interdisciplinary, student-led teams who learn and apply human-centered design principles at the local scale. DFA began in 2009 at Northwestern University and now includes studios at universities all over the country.
Our Texas chapter joined this network to utilize the skills we bring together during class to make a difference in Austin. We work on projects that relate to accessibility on campus, recycling in student residences, health issues among students - as well as other issues that could benefit from design thinking.
Our project teams welcome students from any college at the university, with or without a background in design. We teach members everything they need to know for successful collaboration and community impact. We want to use our combined skill sets to have a positive impact on and build empathy with our community.
