The University of Copenhagen's Department of Mathematical Sciences conducts internationally competitive research and education of candidates in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics.
The Department is housed in building 04 at H.C. Ørsted Institutet, Universitetsparken 5, 2100 Copenhagen Ø. We are part of Nørre (North) Campus.
The Department offers three bachelor's and four master's programs - plus an interdisciplinary mathematics / computer science bachelor's program. There is also ample opportunity to supplement your professionalism with continuing and further education.
The development of mathematical theories and models as well as their applications is the cornerstone of research at the Department. Much of the mathematical research is developed in mutual interaction with other fields. For example, in interaction with physics, medicine (through statistics) and acturial science (through probability theory).
Bioinformatics, finance, operations research are examples of new fields that are included in the Department's research profile. The applications often come from theories that are otherwise considered purely abstract.
Four sections and a wide range of internationally recognized research groups form the core of the department's research.
