In simplest terms, biotechnology is a multidisciplinary field which aims to develop technology and products based on biology. These tools and products help us to better manage diseases, improve the environment by using bio-based products and have more efficient industrial manufacturing processes. Faculties in our department are experts in the fields of microbiology, industrial microbiology, recombinant DNA technology, nanobiotechnology, plant biotechnology, disease biology and metabolism, drug discovery and computational biology.
The Department of Biotechnology currently offers B.E. and PhD in Biotechnology. Students are provided with comprehensive hands-on experimental skills along with classroom teaching. To further improve their laboratory skills, students can also opt for multiple lab-based projects supervised by our faculties. Emphasis is provided on the learning process and critical thinking to independently design and conduct experiments to solve complex biological problems. Students also have the opportunity to avail our unique 30 weeks of Practice School (internship) programs in industries.
