The Department for Correctional Services (DCS) is central to South Australia’s criminal justice system. DCS employs more than 2000 staff across both regional and metropolitan areas and is responsible for nine prisons and seventeen Community Correctional facilities. Our department exists to contribute to public safety, the reduction of crime and the protection of victims through the safe, secure and humane management of offenders under our supervision and the provision of opportunities for rehabilitation.

We employ people in a wide variety of fields, from correctional officers to social workers, psychologists and supervisors of court orders. Their commitment ensures we deliver quality services to prisoners, offenders and victims of crime, and assist offenders in making big changes and help to rebuild lives affected by crime.
