Daum (Korean: 다음; KRX: 035720) is a web portal in South Korea, like Naver and Nate. Daum offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news. On August 2, 2004 Daum announced the purchase of Lycos for $95.4 million, but sold Lycos for $36 million in August 2010 to Ybrant Digital, an internet marketing company based in Hyderabad, India.
Daum's main services included free email service, hanmail and community forum, Daum Cafe, news and user created contents, media daum and agora. In 2006, they started a blogging service Tistory.com and it became one of top 5 sites in Korea. They also made "tvPot", video sharing service and "skyview" aerial photography on the map service. In 2014, it merged with Kakao, the 1st mobile messenger in Korea and changed to "Daum Kakao".
