Dance 101

Dance 101 is an Adult (no kids) exercise concept studio which applies the art of dance to fitness. Offering over 110 weekly drop in classes in Atlanta and another 40 in Alpharetta, Dance 101 is the largest Adult dance and dance fitness studio of its kind anywhere. Dance 101 is the brainchild of a group of 5 adult beginner dance students who envisioned a studio which specialized in teaching beginners while also providing a creative outlet for dance professionals. These students came together, volunteering their respective talents (web design, marketing, accounting, legal) to design the blueprint for the studio you see today. Inspired by the classes they were taking, what they were learning and what dance had brought to their lives, they proposed the idea to their teacher, Ofelia deLaValette, offering to help her create Dance 101 - if she would lead it. In February 2004 Ofelia cashed in her savings, signed a lease for 2400 sq ft on Miami Circle, hired a contractor, put up a sign and opened for business on April 1, 2004 with 35 students and a working staff of 5 volunteers. Today, Dance 101 has over 13,000 students, occupies a 10,000 sq ft facility with 38 teachers and 120 weekly classes! Thank you Will, Kathleen, Kate, Susan, Mel and Lynn.
