Based in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, DSC Media evolved from Derrick Spies Consulting, which was established in late 2009 by The Herald's former online news editor, Derrick Spies. Tapping into his knowledge of the media industry, business (having worked at the Nelson Mandela Bay Chamber of Commerce and holding the position of business reporter at both the Herald and Daily Dispatch) and an ever changing social media landscape, DSC Media was relaunched with a stronger emphasis on media management practices, social media integration and utilisation, website and electronic newsletter development as well as traditional media and PR services. In 2012 DSC Media entered the publication sphere, with the launch of Metro Newspaper (SA). In 2013 DSC Media was asked to assist the Southern Kings with their media, marketing and communication needs in their debut Super Rugby competition. It was an opportunity that one simply cannot say no to and the decision was made to suspend Metro Newspaper. In April 2015 the opportunity presented itself to take DSC Media to the next level, with new offices secured at the amazingly renovated Donkin Village. Derrick has always maintained that the work done will speak for itself.
