The University is named after Saint Eugene De Mazenod, the founder of Oblates of Mary Immaculate. To begin with DMI-St.Eugene University was established at Woodlands near Lusaka, the capital city. It started functioning at Archbishop Medardo J.Mozambwe Campus at Woodlands.
Very Rev.Fr.Dr.J.E.ARUL RAJ the Founder and Chairman of DMI-Group of Institutions is the Chancellor of DMI-St.Eugene University. With his far sighted vision and untiring efforts, in 2013 the University relocated to its new magnificent administrative buildings at a sprawling spectacular new campus at Great North Road. The University is run by the Catholic Sisters of Daughters of Mary Immaculate(DMI) and its Collaborators.
Today, DMI-St.Eugene University is having three Campus Colleges at WOODLANDS, GREAT NORTH ROAD and at CHIPATA. Another noteworthy and amazing achievement is its launching of the INSTITUTE OF VIRTUAL AND DISTANCE LEARNING (IVDL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education, in August,2014. The IVDL is currently operating from ten Provincial Education Centres throughout in Zambia.VIZ., Kabwe, Kitwe, Solwezi, Mongu, Chipata, Livingstone,Mansa,Kasama, Woodlands and Mpika.
