DBYD Certification Ltd (DCL) operates the national certification program for utility locators and offers a range of unique industry education programs. Our overarching purpose is safety and preventing damage to Australia’s complex and valuable network of buried infrastructure assets – which provide every-day essential services to businesses and communities across our country.
Born from an industry initiative looking to set minimum standards and consistent practices across the utility locating profession, DCL was established to manage the newly established national Certified Locator Program.
This certification recognises locators as having the expertise and knowledge to complete all types of location work to accepted industry standards and requirements. Today, there are more than 850 Certified Locators and nearly 350 certified locating organisations across Australia – with these skills in strong demand nationally.
Taking the damage prevention message even further, DCL also runs national programs specifically for organisations and individuals involved in any kind of ground-disturbing work – from large civil constructors to commercial plumbers and boutique landscaping businesses.
These programs aim to raise industry awareness and understanding about best practices when working near buried utilities and how to avoid the costly damage of a service strike. To date, these combined programs have attracted more than 3,800 participants across all sectors of construction.
Our achievements so far could not have been accomplished without the active and dedicated support of the locating and construction industries and assets owners across Australia. It’s the quality of our partnerships that helps drive us further.
