DAWN Commission is the dedicated technocratic institution for the sustainable development of the Southwest Region. It was set up by the Governments of the Southwest States of Nigeria as the institutional and programme management body to midwife their Regional Integration Agenda.
By Southwest Region of Nigeria, we refer to the Southwest geo-political zone as a definitional boundary comprising of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo. This also recognises the co-terminosity of neighbouring States that may be willing to engage and be part of this Development Agenda. The context however recognises the status of Nigeria as a Federal Republic, with all its inherent complexities.
The Commission is the dedicated coordinating agency, fully empowered by the Governments of the 6 States to ensure the delivery of the composite development aspirations of the Region, as expressed in what has been generally adopted and known as the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).
The Commission is the institutional driver for the Regional integration process of the Region and is set up to mobilize development agents and actors across and beyond the Region to collaborate on issues of common development concerns and shared aspirations, by leveraging the collective social capital, economic assets and endowments of the Regional entity.
We seek to make the Southwest Region the preferred place for people to visit, live, work and invest. To achieve this, we are working towards engendering Regional cooperation and integration as a catalyst for development while facilitating sustainable working relationships among different stakeholders.
