Donald and Larry Kouns started D & L Equipment Works in 1977 in Lemon Grove, California. Don and Larry decided source equipment for the healthcare industry was just the niche they wanted to be a part of. They focused on learning as much as possible about medical air and vacuum, NFPA and other regulations, and concentrated on how to apply this knowledge. The company began fabricating its own NFPA compliant medical air and vacuum systems using quality equipment and components from major manufacturers and suppliers worldwide. Every “special process” application is different. This makes choosing “off the shelf, cookie cutter” equipment difficult. Ultimately end users end up with items they don’t need or are placed in a position where they must add expensive options. The 40+ years we’ve spent researching and building packages for some of the finest medical facilities in the country has enabled us to key in on the core features and requirements for new or upgrading any medical facility. We also believe in standing behind and caring for our equipment. Our service division offers service calls, pump repair or rebuilding, preventative maintenance contracts, 24/7 emergency service, and a full array of emergency standby rental equipment. Our service division maintains source equipment for some of the finest medical facilities in the western United States. Our service technicians are ASSE 6040, HIPAA and Bloodborne Pathogens certified and have strict healthcare documentation through several hospital credentialing agencies including all recommended disease inoculations and background checks. We are members of NFPA, carry a California Contractor’s License and meet/exceed regulations and required insurances. We have tons of references from healthcare facilities nationwide.
