Cucina Calabrese is the creation of the family's patriach, Dr. Charles Calabrese, Jr. He saw how a great Italian meal prepared with quality ingredient brings people together and leaves them with much contentment. Much like those meals, this company was a way to bring his own family together so each member can contribute in their own way.
Tancredi Calabrese (Dr. Calabrese's grand father) came from the Abruzzi region of Southern Italy, settled in Pittsburgh during the early 1900s, and used his ingenuity and skills as a blacksmith to patent his own pasta maker. The prototype machine and patent record proudly sit in the family's curio and as reminder of this rich history in cooking. It also inspires the creativity to develop forward-thinking foods with new and unique flavors.
