Crate Capital buys, builds, and operates exceptional small businesses and holds them for the long-term. We are passionate about what we do and have decades of hands-on experience doing it. Operators and builders at heart, we have spent nights on the shop floor, waited in lobbies for sales meetings, and built teams around common goals and values. As investors and advisors, we have raised capital, evaluated hundreds of businesses, and partnered with dozens of management teams. We have succeeded and we have failed but most importantly, we have learned the best way we know how – through lived experiences. These experiences have given us a deep appreciation for entrepreneurs that have built enduring businesses. At the same time, they have shone a light on the shortcomings of the traditional private equity model, which often prioritizes short-term profits and capital partners, selling companies over and over and governing them from offices and boardrooms far from their people and markets. Crate Capital is different. We have no intention of selling the companies we own, instead we prefer to preserve and build on owners' legacies by investing in people and operations. We focus on small businesses, understand them intimately, and have real-world experience managing them. We build authentic relationships, share opportunities for wealth creation, and help future leaders reach their potential.
