Over 30 years of architectural practice has allowed us to develop a responsive and perceptive way of working with and of thinking about buildings. A pragmatic approach to the business of architecture, combined with a varied portfolio of work, has given us the opportunity to design buildings of quality, to the highest standards of design and workmanship. We believe that the design should be thoroughly researched, well resolved through rigorous discussion and thoughtfully and well executed to the best quality that the project budget will allow.
Most of our larger projects are guided by principles of contemporary design, especially in a more urban location, to reflect the wider context in form, detail and materiality. We strive to take as much care with the spaces created between buildings as the architecture itself and are well versed in addressing design issues within sensitive sites. We are regularly involved in projects within built environments rich in historic fabric, listed buildings and fine landscapes. All the projects have a common approach to their design, reflecting a desire to achieve honesty in their composition and use of materials, as well as adding to the wider environment in an unselfconscious way. We have developed a firm belief in the need for teamwork and we build a strong relationship with both clients and other related practitioners. CGA has a comprehensive list of consultants, academics, contractors and craftsmen, who we know we can rely on to work with us, to achieve design solutions and workmanship to the highest quality.
