Costa Humboldt is a non-profit organization whose mission is the promotion, development and implementation of programs for the conservation of coastal marine biological and cultural diversity.
Costa Humboldt’s main objective is to improve the health of the diverse marine ecosystems in Chile, providing sustainable habitats for the benefit of local communities coupled with the preservation of the biodiversity of the most productive, resilient and unique ecoregions on our planet.
Attaining this objective in the medium and long term requires a coordinated inter-sectoral effort, involving the government, the private sector, NGOs, local communities and academia. To achieve our main objective we have designed a strategic plan aimed at articulating a clear vision of the way forward for the biocultural conservation of the Chilean coasts.
We believe that an interdisciplinary approach is required to advance towards the implementation of concrete measures aimed at improving the management of marine resources, conserving fragile ecosystems and species, ensuring the well-being of local communities, or providing strong and representative governance systems.
