Corus Bankshares, Inc. (Corus) is a bank holding company. Corus through its wholly owned banking subsidiary, Corus Bank, N.A. (the Bank), is primarily focused on commercial real estate lending and deposit gathering. The third, and the smaller, business is servicing the check cashing industry. Corus other activities include investments in the common stocks of financial industry companies, as well as participations in certain of the Bank's larger commercial real estate loans. The Company's lending focuses on condominium projects. Construction loans represent the largest portion of Corus condominium loans at 90% of total condominium loan commitments as of December 31, 2007. The Company’s lending activities are focused in various metropolitan areas in Florida and California, as well as Atlanta,Las Vegas, New York City and the District of Columbia. With respect to retail banking, the Bank has 11 branches in the Chicago metropolitan area.
