Our mission is to foster the ideals, practice, and awareness of mediation as an alternative to confrontational forms of dispute resolution. We do this through training mediators, educating the public, and providing programs to make mediation accessible to the citizens of Ventura County.
We offer a basic conflict resolution workshop 2 times a year through our center. We can bring the training to your location by request.
This 4-day in-person course (also taught in an online format) introduces the core principles and methods of mediation. Through lectures, group exercises, role plays, and external observations, participants are provided with a unique perspective and a strong foundation in mediation skills.
The course teaches both the practical approaches to mediation while providing the underlying theory to those approaches. The material covers a variety of issues including conflict, negotiation, mediation models, confidentiality, mediation process, law, ethics, cultural diversity, and the crafting of mediation agreements.
