Our Mission
Community Libraries of Providence serves the culturally rich people of Providence by adapting to their evolving reading and information needs with a diverse staff that delivers relevant library resources and programs, cultivates meaningful partnerships and promotes vibrant neighborhoods.
About Us
Providence Community Library (PCL) serves more than 54,000 registered patrons. Our nine library locations provide access to a wealth of resources, knowledge and opportunities for the people of Providence. Additionally, our mobile library takes the joy of reading and lifelong learning out on the road to schoolyards, city parks and special events. PCL is the largest library system in the state of Rhode Island and the city’s largest, free educational institution after the Providence Public Schools. PCL is a member of Ocean State Libraries network.
Our Funding
PCL receives approximately 85 percent of its funding from the State of Rhode Island and City of Providence. We work to raise the remaining 15 percent through generous contributions from charitable, corporate and individual donors.
