Founded in 1988, Communities In Schools (CIS) of Chicago is a non-profit organization and affiliate of Communities In Schools, Inc., one of the nation's largest and most impactful youth-serving organizations.
The mission of our organization is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Through our two core programs - The Intensive Program and Partnership Program - we help schools and students access the support services and resources they need to overcome obstacles to learning, unlock their potential, and stay on the path to graduation. These supports are provided directly by CIS' highly trained staff as well as through our deep network of community partners. Multiple studies have shown that CIS' work, in collaboration with schools, has a positive impact on student success.
During the 2023-24 academic year, CIS of Chicago will partner with 238 Chicago public schools across the city.
