Well defined by Patti Smith as “The essence of what a festival nowadays should be” - for its ability to mix international music, world literature, social environment, wine & food. At the moment Collisioni is one of the most popular, awaited cultural event in Italy, as well as the most popular music and literature festival able to attract the largest audience in northern Italy.
Now at its tenth edition, Collisioni brought to the small town of Barolo, artists such as Elton John, Deep Purple, Bob Dylan, Robbie Williams, Placebo....this year we will have Depeche Mode, Lenny Kravits and Steven Tyler. But also names such Abel Ferrara, Salman Rushdie, Paul Auster, the Oscar winner director Michael Cimino, Don DeLillo,
the Nobel prize José Saramago, the Nobel prize Vidia Naipaul, Ian McEwan, Bret Easton Ellis, David Grossman, Roberto Saviano, Suzanne Vega, Jonathan Coe, James Ellroy, David Sedaris, Jeffery Deaver, the Nobel prices Herta Muller and Svetlana Alexievich, Wole Soyinka, Matt Dillon, Jeffrey Eugenides, Jonathan Coe, Joe Bastianich, Irvine Welsh, Michael Cunningham, Patrick McGrath....
During the year we work almost exclusively on wine & food at different levels and with different partners. We have a year-round Wine and a Food project coordinated by Ian D'Agata. The Wine Project that has been growing for 7 years now, made of different sub-projects called Indigena, 3IC and Wine Educational Board involving wine tastings, wineries visit, master classes… both in Italy and abroad. The main event is Progetto Vino during Collisioni Festival. The Food project is at its second year, following the Wine footsteps.
