Following the release of a Call to Action addressed to the University of Florida School of Architecture in the summer of 2020, a collective of students and alumni came together to form the Coalition in Design. Demanding a more proactive and anti-racist education, the coalition works closely with the director and faculty to learn from the shared student experiences of racism and discrimination within the college, and create goals that contribute to an anti-racist culture.
We have initiated a ripple effect throughout the School of Architecture that conceived a student governance committee, equity committee, and change to curriculum. Currently we lead monthly roundtable discussions on topics concerning diversity, inclusivity, and architectural education and practice.
