The Clutha District epitomises the classic kiwi dream – the relaxed lifestyle, affordable housing, spectacular scenery and friendly people, we reckon we’ve got it all. Around 18,500 people call the Clutha District home and we get our fair share of visitors too, with the natural beauty of the Catlins and the gold rush history of Lawrence pulling people in. The district covers 6,334km2, with a largely rural population, although we also have nine urban centres, the largest being Balclutha. Our vision is that Clutha District is a great place to live, work and play. The district is growing, and our overall outlook is positive. We’re very much open for business and there are great opportunities to live, work and invest in Clutha.
