The Climate Change Commission was created by virtue of Republic Act No. 9729 or The Climate Change Act of 2009.
We are the lead policy-making government body tasked to coordinate, monitor and evaluate programs & action plans tackling the impacts of climate change in the Philippines. We aim to converge cross-sectoral issues, advocating solutions and initiatives.
Due to the Philippines' unique geographical location and economic situation, it is one of the top 5 most vulnerable countries in the world to the impacts of climate change - increases in temperature, sea level rise and extreme weather events.
Our vision is to build climate-resilient communities, and assist in the creation of a more climate-smart society for Filipinos.
Our mandate is to help formulate the official National Framework Strategy on Climate Change (NFSCC) and the National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP).
Our framework strategies and actions towards adaptation and mitigation focus on 7 Strategic Priorities:
* FOOD SECURITY
* WATER SUFFICIENCY
* ENVIRONMENTAL & ECOLOGICAL STABILITY
* HUMAN SECURITY
* SUSTAINABLE ENERGY
* CLIMATE-SMART INDUSTRIES & SERVICES
* KNOWLEDGE & CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT
