The Climate Action SG Alliance aims to harness the power of mass communication in strengthening the narrative for climate reformation so as to translate public awareness into action.
The idea for the Climate Action SG Alliance first emerged at a roundtable hosted by Senior Minister of State for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Amy Khor on 3 January 2018 and attended by leading green groups and individuals in Singapore.
The Alliance was then formally announced in Parliament on 6 March 2018 at the Committee of Supply debate by Dr Khor, where she shared that it was agreed in her dialogue with NGOs that climate action collaboration and co-ordination across all stakeholders could be stronger.
Through a grassroots effort, the Alliance — chaired by Jessica Cheam, founder and managing director of Eco-Business — met for the first time on 4th April 2018 to set out its mission, objectives and what it wants to achieve. Since 2018, the Alliance has been working on several initiatives on climate action.
