City Of Huntington Indiana

Municipal Government that serves approximately 17,000 citizens in a county that has approximately 35,000 total citizens. The City of Huntington is located approximately 20 miles southwest of Fort Wayne Indiana and approximately 80 miles north of Indianapolis Indiana. The city has a historic downtown nestled in the center of the city which is immediately surrounded by residential housing (some neighborhoods are registered historical districts). The residential housing is then strategically surrounded by Industrial and commecial development. The community has two Industrial parks and several commercial parks. Huntington is served by a growing municipal Airport wich can service nearly any aircraft. Huntington was historically served by the Erie Canal. Huntington is home to Victory Noll, a retirement community for Catholic Nuns. Huntington has approximately 100 acres of parks. Huntington has a recently expanded Public Library Huntington Co. is home to two reservoirs (Roush Lake and Salamonie Lake) Huntington Co. has thousands of acres of state parks. The City of Huntington is currently taking strides to update and expand their Water and Sewer treatment facilities. Huntington has two US routes (24, 224), two state routes (5,9), and a major rail line running through the city limits. It also has an interstate (69) running through the county.
