OUR ASSETS Our history provides many answers… and opportunities. Our designation as ‘Small Town USA’ is merely one of our assets. Alexandria also is the home of the Aladdin Lamp Company – collectors and enthusiasts’ worldwide share a love for the history we have for years only remembered within the walls of our local Historical Society. Recent discussions with the Aladdin Group offer a new outlook - a museum is on the horizon. Bill and Gloria Gaither are icons – living legends in the Southern Gospel music world – share our passion for Alexandria. Bill [a native to Alexandria] and Gloria have been tremendous neighbors and good stewards to our community, raising their family in Alexandria while building a successful, internationally recognized business – the Gaithers’ employ a significant number of our local residents. Plans are underway to expand their restaurant and retail store. The vision - ‘The American Gospel Music Experience’ - more than a museum… a destination, certain to attract leagues of fans to share in the rich Gospel Music History and numerous accomplishments of both Bill and Gloria. And, least of which – our citizens… passionate, doers – dedicated to more than just weathering the storm, but recreating our community as ‘the’ destination to take a step back in time, to an era treasured by so many.
