The Circuit Works Concept
Circuit Training the Circuit Works Way
Circuit training burns more calories than any other form of exercise.
There are two types of muscle fibers throughout the entire muscular skeletal system. They are Fast Twitch Muscle Fibers, and Slow Twitch Muscle Fibers. Fast Twitch Muscle Fibers are only activated for short burst movements with an applied resistance. Slow twitch muscle fibers are used after 3-5 minutes of a constant activity or movement.
* Fast Twitch Muscle Fibers
Resistance movements
* Slow Twitch Muscle Fibers
Aerobic activities
Fast Twitch Muscle Fibers use more fuel than Slow Twitch Muscle Fibers and Fast Twitch Muscle Fibers continue to burn fuel hours after they contract.
* Resistance exercise burns more fat than cardio.
There are two energy expenditure systems the body uses to create fuel from stored fat for all bodily activities or movements.
* The Aerobic System
Activated after 3-5 minutes of constant movement or activity (Cardiovascular activity running, walking, spinning, etc.)
* The Anaerobic System
Activates immediately and only in use up to 3 minutes of an activity with an applied resistance. Only in use for short burst movements (Resistance activities like weight training and lifting as little as a piece of paper or bottled water to your mouth.)
What separates Circuit Works, Circuit Training classes from all the rest?
* Combination of Factors
Our classes switch from an aerobic cardiovascular exercise to an anaerobic resistance exercise every 60 seconds, keeping the body from choosing the energy expenditure system it’s going to use. This confusion forces the body to burn more calories, a process explained by science as the Zig Zag theory. This activity of switching back and forth from an aerobic cardiovascular system to an anaerobic system is what increases the fat expenditure of the body by more than 500%.
