Cicero Volunteer Fire Department (CFD) was founded in 1883 as a not-for-profit organization with two stations; Station 1 is located at 8377 Brewerton Road and Station 2 at 6109 Route 31 in Cicero, New York, in Onondaga County. The Cicero Fire Department holds a Class 4 I.S.O rating and serves the Cicero Fire District and Fire Protection District, 12 square miles with a population of 31,682 based on 2010 Census Data. CFD is one of the busiest departments in Cicero responding to 916 calls in 2011 providing fire, rescue, and emergency medical services. Business include; Cicero North Syracuse High School, Cicero Elementary School, Gillette Road Middle School, Target, Syracuse Castings, Syracuse Pool, Supply, The Home Depot, Wal-Mart Super Center, Clintons Ditch – Pepsi Bottling, Paul Delima Coffee, Wegmans Grocery, Tri-State Auto Auction, Interstate Route 81, Holiday Inn and Four other Hotels in the Development Statges, Michael’s Air Field, Gander Mountin, Barone Farm and Feed. Our response includes (1) 100′ Aerial Platform, (2) Engines, (1) Heavy Rescue, (2) Light (EMS) Rescues, (1) Reserve Rescue and (4) Chief’s Vehicles.
Under the auspices of the Fire Commissioner’s, The Chiefs, Line Officers, and Executive Board oversees the structure, organization and performance of fire and rescue services. We have 64 Volunteer members with each active firefighter receiving at least 40 hours of training each year. In addition to a very active firematic and Explorer Post program, we also provide fire prevention, department tours, and community service programs. Our emergency medical services program provide continuous quality improvement and education.
