As many as 80 percent of children in residential care facilities – sometimes called “orphanages” – have at least one living parent.
Child's i is a a small non-profit with a big impact, we work with governments, national partners and our worldwide network of supporters to highlight the harm and cost of orphanages in Uganda and globally.
We partner with the local community to repurpose orphanages into community hubs that support parents and children, aiming to prevent separation. We facilitate the transition of children into loving Ugandan families and collaborate with the community and local government to prevent family separation. Our approach involves developing truly social services that effectively keep children with their families, enabling them to thrive in a cost-effective manner
