In the past year, we have provided a range of free specialist support and advice for 780 Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire children,
young people and their parents/carers who are grieving. We have also provided guidance and training for hundreds of professionals to improve
their skills in supporting bereaved families.
All the children and young people accessing support have experienced trauma due to the death or
terminal-illness of someone important to them such as a parent, both parents, sibling or grandparent. This is
often in traumatic circumstances such as chronic illness, accident, murder, manslaughter or suicide.
By providing appropriate early interventions, we reduce the affects of trauma and anxiety, increase emotional wellbeing,
stop or reduce mental health issues and enable children and families to be healthier and happier.
As the only local dedicated children’s bereavement service providing a wide range of free 1:1 and group support for 3-18-year olds,
without us many of them would not get the vital help they need. This year we will have to raise approximately £300,000, mostly
from our local community and trusts/foundations, to ensure we can continue to support many more children and families at what is probably
the most devastating time in their lives.
